Amos Butler

H.M.S. "Black Prince.", Royal Navy

Amos Butler died on Wednesday 31st May 1916, aged 20 years, and was remembered on the PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, Hampshire.

H.M.S. Black Prince was sunk during the Battle of Jutland, which took place in the North Sea during 31st May to 1st June 1916. He may have died alongside fellow Kirkby resident William Herbert Atkin, who is also remembered on the War Memorial.

He was the son of James and Hannah Butler, of 36 Ellis Street, East Kirkby, Notts.
