Ernest Caunt died on Thursday 21st March 1918, aged 25 years, and was remembered on the ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France.

He was born c1893 at Kirkby-in-Ashfield, to parents Jesse & Mary Caunt. Jesse Caunt was a miner, and a native of Sutton-in-Ashfield, while Mary Caunt (formerly Smith) was born in Newark, Notts. They married at St Andrew, Skegby, in October 1885.

His brother Frederick Caunt is also remembered on Kirkby's War Memorial.
