Notts Free Press - In Memoriam - 16th June 1916

In loving memory of Private Joseph Charles who was killed in action, June 16th 1915, in Belgium.

I think of him in silence,
his name I often call,
But there's nothing left to answer,
but his photo on the wall.
He bravely answered duty's call,
he gave his life for one and all;
But the unknown grave is the bitterest blow,
none but an aching heart can know.

From his sorrowing wife and family.
