William Arthur Oscroft died on 24th August 1916, aged 22 years, and was buried in the DELVILLE WOOD CEMETERY, LONGUEVAL, Somme, France.
He was the son of Joseph and Sarah Ann Oscroft, of 21 Church Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham. His brother, Joseph Oscroft, is also remembered on the Kirkby War Memorial.
