John William Sweeting died on Friday 25th January 1918, aged 26 years, and was buried in the MERVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, Nord, France.
He was born c1892 at Stonebroom, near Alfreton, Derbyshire, to parents John & Elizabeth Ann Sweeting. John Sweeting was a Coal Miner, and a native of Ripley, who married Elizabeth Ann Brazier in 1892. On the 1901 census the family were living in Alfreton, but by 1914 they were living in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
