Valentine Colman Matthews died on Saturday 24th June 1944, aged 30 years, and is remembered on the LOWESTOFT NAVAL MEMORIAL, Suffolk. The Lord Austin sunk after hitting a mine in Seine Bay, Normandy.
He was the son of Francis William and Alice Matthews, and the husband of Doris Matthews, of East Kirkby, Nottinghamshire.
