George Labron Barnett died on Saturday 1st July 1916, age 21, and was buried in BLIGHTY VALLEY CEMETERY, AUTHUILE WOOD, Somme, France. He was buried in the same cemetery as another local casualty, William Henry Butterworth, who died on the same day.

He was born c1895 at Leeds, to Laurence and Emily Barnett (nee Labron). On the 1901 census, Emily Barnett and her four children were visiting her brother, Walter Labron, who lived at Elm Street, Leeds. In 1916, Mr & Mrs Barnett resided at the Rifle Volunteer Inn, Skegby, Notts.

George Labron Barnett's younger brother, Albert Barnett, is also remembered on the Skegby War Memorial.
