Bert Dudley died on 16th May 1917, aged 21 years, and was buried in the ROCLINCOURT MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France.
He was baptised as Bertie on 7th December 1896 at Christchurch, Cinderhill, to parents Henry Dudley and Jane Elizabeth (formerly Moorhouse). His parents married at St Peters Church, Mansfield in November 1887, and moved to Cinderhill, Basford after a short time spent in Barnsley. By the time of the 1901 census they were living at Ilkeston, Derbyshire and at the time of Bert's death were living at Leverton's Row, Skegby, Notts.
Henry Dudley was a native of Madeley in Shropshire, while Jane Elizabeth Dudley gave her birthplace as Retford.
