John William Hook died on 1st July 1916, aged 25 years, and was remembered on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.

He was baptised at St Andrew's Church, Skegby on 23rd June 1891, to parents William & Catherine Hook. William Hook was a Colliery Labourer, and a native of Warsop, Notts. He married Catherine Stocks at St John's Church, Mansfield, in July 1890.

At the time of the 1901 census the family were living in Skegby. John William was their eldest child.
