Fred Freeman died on 1st July 1916, aged 22 years, and was remembered on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.

He was born c1894 at Burton-on-Trent, Staffs, to parents William & Elizabeth Freeman. William Freeman was a Cooper, who married Elizabeth Moore at St John, Mansfield, in September 1883. They were both natives of Mansfield. In 1901, the family resided at Horninglow, Burton-on-Trent.
