Arthur Gittins died on 24th October 1918, aged 21 years, and was buried in the ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN, Seine-Maritime, France.
He was born on 17th September 1897 at Meden Bank, Stanton Hill, to parents William and Mary Jane Gittins. William Gittins was a Coal Miner, and a native of Shropshire. He married Mary Jane Turner at St Peter, Mansfield in April 1887. The family spent some time living in the New Cross area of Sutton, before moving to Meden Bank between 1892-1896.
