Thomas Parbutt died on 27th April 1917, aged 23 years, and was remembered on the ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France.
He was born 22nd April 1894, at Stanton Hill, Skegby, Notts, and was the son of Thomas & Mary Jane Parbutt. Thomas Parbutt was a Collier, who married Mary Jane Edwards at St Andrew's Church, Skegby in July 1886. Thomas Parbutt was a native of Netherton, Worcs., while his wife was born in Dudley, Worcs.
Thomas Parbutt is also remembered on the Sutton-in-Ashfield War Memorial.

Parbutt - In Loving Memory of our dear Son and Brother, Thomas Parbutt, of Sutton, who was killed in the Battle of Arras on April 27th 1917. He served his king and country, God knows he did his best; But now he sleeps in Jesus, A soldier laid to rest. Could we have been beside him, To soothe his dying hours; The grief would not have been so great, For us in silent hours. - From his sorrowing Mother, Father, Brothers and Sisters.
