John Allatt died on Wednesday 23 January 1918, Age 20. He is commemorated at the CHAPELLE BRITISH CEMETERY, Holnon, France. He was remembered on both the main Sutton War Memorial and the Memorial of St Michael & All Angels Church, Sutton.

He was born c1898 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents John Charles and Elizabeth Ann Allatt. John Charles Allatt was a Bricklayer, and a native of Thornhill, Yorkshire. Elizabeth Ann Allatt (formerly Keeling) was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, and the couple married at St Mary's Church, Sutton in December 1897.

At the time of John's death the family were living at 6 Eastfield Side, Sutton-in-Ashfield Notts.
