Ernest Allsop died on Thursday 21 March 1918, aged 29 years, and is remembered on the ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. He was remembered on both the main Sutton War Memorial and the Memorial of St Michael & All Angels Church, Sutton.

He was born Ernest Edwin Allsop on 4th November 1888 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents William and Sarah Allsop. William Allsop was a Coal Miner, and a native of Sutton-in-Ashfield. He married his wife Sarah (formerly Evans) at St Mary's Church, Sutton-in-Ashfield in August 1881. She was born in Tipton, Staffordshire.

Ernest Allsop was listed as missing on the "Roll of Honour" printed in the Notts Free Press of 17th May 1918. His brother, Horace Allsop, is also remembered on Sutton's main War Memorial.
