George Frederick Allsop died on Sunday 2nd December 1917,  and is remembered on the TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

He was born c1899 at Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents Harold Arthur Allsop & Eliza (Lizzie) Allsop. Harold Allsop was a Butchers Slaughterman, who was living on Mansfield Road, Sutton, in 1901. He married Lizzie Brookes in 1898. By the time of George's death they were residing at 52 Mason Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.

George Frederick was the cousin of George William Allsop (also remembered on Sutton's War Memorial), as their fathers were brothers.

KILLED IN ACTION - We regret to state that Mr A. E. Allsop, Kirkby Road, has received an intimation that his only son, Pte. George Wm. Allsop, has been killed in action. Barely 19 years of age, Private Allsop had been in France only a fortnight. Concerning Private George Frederick Allsop, son of Mr H. Allsop, "Ashlands", who has been missing since December, we are sorry to state that no further news has yet been received.
