Horace Allsop died on Tuesday 8th October 1918, aged 22, and was buried at BOIS-DES-ANGLES BRITISH CEMETERY, CREVECOEUR-SUR-L'ESCAUT, Nord, France. He was remembered on both the main Sutton War Memorial and the Memorial of St Michael & All Angels Church, Sutton.

He was born c1896 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents William and Sarah Allsop. William Allsop was a Coal Miner, and a native of Sutton-in-Ashfield. He married his wife Sarah (formerly Evans) at St Mary's Church, Sutton-in-Ashfield in August 1881. She was born in Tipton, Staffordshire.

His brothers, Ernest Allsop and Sampson George Allsop are also remembered on the War Memorial.

Private H. Allsop, Sutton
Private Horace Allsop, of 200 Mansfield Road, was killed in action on October 8th. He was 22 years of age, and a member of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. No details have been received as to how he met with his death. Previous to enlistment in 1915, he worked as a miner at the Summit Colliery. Another brother, Pte. E. Allsop, has been reported as missing since March 21st last.
