Sampson George Allsop died on 25th June 1918, aged 18 years, and was buried in SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD CEMETERY, Nottinghamshire, on 30th June 1918. (Grave ref AL1497). He was remembered on both the main Sutton War Memorial and the Memorial of St Michael & All Angels Church, Sutton.
He was born 9th February 1900 on Dalestorth Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield. His parents were William & Sarah Allsop, who were living at 48 John Street, Sutton, at the time of his death. William Allsop was a Coal Miner, and a native of Sutton-in-Ashfield. He married his wife Sarah (formerly Evans) at St Mary's Church, Sutton-in-Ashfield in August 1881. She was born in Tipton, Staffordshire.
His elder brothers Horace Allsop and Ernest Allsop are also listed on the War Memorial.
