Richard Barton died on 14th July 1916, aged 26 years, and was remembered on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.

He was born c1890 at Kirkby-in-Ashfield, to parents Edward & Mary Barton. Edward Barton was a Coal Miner, and a native of Leicester, and at the time of the 1901 census the family were living in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
