John Buckley died on Tuesday 7 May 1918, Age 18, and was buried in the PERNES BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France
He was born on 18th June 1899, on Morley Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield; the eldest son of Thomas Buckley and Elizabeth Eleanor (formerly Clarke). Thomas Buckley was a Coal Miner on the 1901 census, who was listed with his family at York Street, Sutton. At the time of John's death the family were living at 18 Chatsworth Street.

Buckley - In Loving Memory of Private John Buckley, 99432, 1/7th King's Liverpool Regiment, who died of wounds on May 7th, 1918, in the 1st Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, France. He served his king and country, God knows he did his best; But now he sleeps in Jesus, A soldier laid to rest. Could we have been besides him To sooth his dying hours, The grief would not have been so hard, To us in silent hours. (no names given)
