Edward B. Burton died on 11th April 1916, aged 23 years, and was buried in the YPRES RESERVOIR CEMETERY, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

He was born c1892 at Bourne, Lincs, to parents James and Florence B. Burton. James Burton was a Colliery Coke Burner, and a native of Market Brigg, Lincs. The family appear to have moved from Lincolnshire to Sutton-in-Ashfield sometime between 1899 and 1901, at which time they were living on Dowing Street, Sutton. At the time of Edward's death they resided at 23 Bishop Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
