John George Burton died on Sunday 19th August 1917, Age 25, and was buried in the TYNE COT CEMETERY, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

He was born c1893 at Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents Matthew John and Lucy Ann Burton. Matthew Burton was a Colliery Shunter, and native of Sutton-in-Ashfield, who married his wife Lucy at Rotherham in 1874. The family moved from Rotherham to Sutton around 1884, and in 1901 were living at 6 Willowbridge, Sutton. 

John Burton was also the Husband of Annie E. Burton, of 24 Stoneyford Cottages, Stanton Hill, Notts.
