Stephen Burton died on 15th May 1917, aged 19 years, and was remembered on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.
He was born c1898 at Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents Ralph and Rachel Burton. Ralph Burton was a Coal Miner, and a native of Hucknall Huthwaite, who married Rachel Duggin at St Mary, Sutton, in February 1880. In 1901 the family were living on Slater Street, but by the time of Stephen's death they resided at 33 Redcliffe Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
