William Copestake died on Sunday 2nd June 1918, Age 19, and was buried in BERLES NEW MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France
He was born on 1st October 1989 at Union Street, Sutton; the eldest son of Ernest Herbert and Eliza Ann Copestake. Ernest Copestake was a Colliery Contractor, who married Eliza Ann Thorpe at St Mary, Sutton, in May 1898. At the time of the 1901 census they were living at 23 Union Street, but at the time of William's death they resided at 50 Union Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
