Sidney Day died on Friday 11th August 1916, Age 25, and was buried in the LONSDALE CEMETERY, AUTHUILE, Somme, France.

He was born 28th February 1891 on Alfreton Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents Thomas and Elizabeth Mary Day. Thomas Day was a Colliery Secretary and Accountant, and a native of Sheffield, while his wife was born in Derby. At the time of the 1901 census the family were living on Alfreton Road, Sutton Woodhouse.
