James Doncaster died from his wounds in Hopsital at St Albans, on Tuesday 16 April 1918, aged 25 years, and was buried in Sutton-in-Ashfield Cemetery on 20 April 1918. (Grave Ref C. OO. 4775).
He was born circa 1893, in Sibsey, Lincs, the son of James and Mary Doncaster, of Mount Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts. His father was an Agricultural Labourer, who originated from Norfolk, while his mother and many of his siblings were born in Lincolnshire.
