Frank Godson died on Friday 16 July 1915, Age 28, and was buried in the SANCTUARY WOOD CEMETERY, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

He was born on 31st October 1886, in Beecroft's Yard, Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents John and Rosamond Godson. John Godson was a Coal Miner, and a native of Skegby, who married Rosamond Nowell (nee Boot) at St Mary's church, Sutton in July 1879. Sometime after 1891 John Godson died, and by 1901 Rosamond had remarried to Christopher White. On the 1901 census the Godson children, including Frank, were living with their mother and stepfather at Pingle Fields, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

He was the husband of Hannah Emily Godson, who lived at 21 Stoney Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, at his death. They married in 1907. Hannah did not remarry, and eventually died in January 1970.

Frank Godson was the brother of William Godson, who is also commemorated on the War Memorial.
