Charles Alfred Green died on Tuesday 27th February 1917, Age 31, and is commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.
He was born 18th July 1886 at Forest Side, Sutton-in-Ashfield, the son of Samuel and Eliza Green, of 24 Mason Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
Charles Green was rescued following his injury by Corporal F. Abberley, a soldier from Tibshelf, who was subsequently awarded the Military Medal for his bravery in the rescue. (reported in the Notts Free Press 30th March 1917)
