George Hastings died on Friday 14th July 1916, Age 22, and is commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.

He was born c1896 in Kingston-upon-Hull, the son of George Hastings and Sarah (formerly Willey). His father was a native of Hull, and a Master Mariner at that port, but his mother was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, and the couple married at St Mary's Church, Sutton, in July 1890. In 1901 the family were living at 77 Redbourne Street, Kingston-upon-Hull.

who was killed in action
on the 14th of July 1916
near Memitz Wood France
aged 22 years
