James (Jim) Hayes died on Wednesday 5th July 1916, age 23, and is commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France.
He was born 23rd September 1892 at Idlewells, Sutton-in-Ashfield to parents Sam & Martha Hayes. Sam Hayes was a miner, who married Martha Revel Betts at St Mary, Sutton-in-Ashfield during October 1869.
