H.M.S. "Formidable", Royal Marine Light Infantry


Charles William Hebbards died on Friday 1st January 1915, and was remembered on the CHATHAM NAVAL MEMORIAL, Kent.

He was lost when the HMS Formidable sank off the Devon coast after being hit by two torpedos from German submarine U24. It was the first British Battleship to be lost in the war.
