Maurice Jones died on Friday 18th April 1917, aged 21 years, and was buried in the DEIR EL BELAH WAR CEMETERY, Israel. He was one of the pioneers of what later became known as the Tank Corps.
He was born on 3rd March 1896 at 10 Reform Street, Sutton, and was the son of Edwin Jones, a miner, and his wife Mary Jane Jones (formerly Henstock).
At the time of his death the family were living at 111 Chatsworth Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
He was the second cousin of John Charles Cudworth, who is also remembered on the War Memorial.
