Arthur Middleton died on Sunday 21 April 1918, aged 35, and was remembered on the PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.
He was born on 8th June 1883, at Forest Side, Sutton-in-Ashfield, to parents George & Elizabeth Middleton. George Middleton was a Framework Knitter, who married Elizabeth Shaw at St Mary's Church, Sutton-in-Ashfield in April 1868.

Middleton - In Ever-Loving Memory of our dearly loved Brother, Private Arthur Middleton, who was killed by a shell on April 21st 1918, aged 35 years. We loved him, yea, no tongue can tell how deep, how dearly and how well; Christ loved him more and thought it best, to take him home with Him to rest. - From his ever-loving Sister Annie and Sister Lizzie at South Elmsall.
