Sutton Soldier dies from wounds - A last greeting

Unfortunately, news has now been received of the death of Rifleman Cyril Moore, York Street, Sutton, whose serious condition in the hospital in Etaples we reported last week. Rifleman Moore, who was 19 years of age, joined the 7th Battalion Kings Royal Rifles. For some time he lay in hospital at Etaples, where he was seen by his father and uncle, and the death took place on Saturday.

This last letter received was by his uncle and aunt, who live at 35 Mill Street. This was written by a nurse at the injured soldiers dictation:-

"I write to you these few lines thanking you for the christmas card you sent me. I am not feeling up to the mark today. Wishing you both a very happy New Year. Please remember me to Chris and Jim and give my love to Dad. With lots of love from Cyril."
