Robert Dudley North died on Wednesday 3 May 1916, Age 31, and was buried in LA BRIQUE MILITARY CEMETERY No.2, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

He was born 28th September 1894, at Osman Place, Sutton, the son of Henry and Harriett Dobson North. At the time of his death his parents were living at 24 Watson Avenue, Mansfield, Notts.

Following his death a "Soldiers Memorial" stained glass window was installed in St Mary's Church, Sutton-in-Ashfield. A plate at the side reads:

This window was dedicated to the glory of God and in the memory of Robert Dudley North; Lieutenant, Notts and Derby Regiment, Server and Crossbearer in this church, who was killed in action near Ypres May 3rd 1916, aged 31 years. "Rest eternal grant unto him O Lord"
