Ira Paling died on Wednesday 26 September 1917, Age 22, and was commemorated on the TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

He was born c1895 in Marehay, Derbyshire and was the son of George Thomas and Elizabeth Paling. He enlisted in Nottingham. At the time of his death his parents lived at Alfreton Road., Fulwood, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Notts.
