Horace Scott

Horace Scott died on 1st July 1916, aged 25 years, and was remembered on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. He died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, and was one of ten local men killed on the same day.

He was born c1892 to parents Walter and Harriett Scott. Walter Scott was a Stonemason, and a native of Sutton-in-Ashfield, who married Harriett Hardy at St Mary's Church, Sutton in December 1884. On the 1901 census, the family were living at Eastfield Side, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Horace Scott was also the husband of Ellen Scott, of 13 Phoenix Street, Forest Side, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottingham.
