Cyril Carfield Straw died on Saturday 15 July 1916, Age 21, and was buried in MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT, Seine-Maritime, France.

He was born on 2nd July 1895 at Sutton Woodhouse, and was the son of Herbert and Elizabeth (Betsy) Straw. Herbert Straw was a Deputy in the Coal Mines and a native of Sutton-in-Ashfield. He married Elizabeth (formerly Hinds) at St Mary, Sutton-in-Ashfield in April 1881. Elizabeth Hinds was born in Derby.
