John William Varley died of dysentery on Tuesday 22 October 1918, Age 22, and was buried in HAIFA WAR CEMETERY, Israel.

He was the son of George and Mary Varley, who were living at Meden Bank, Stanton Hill at the time of his death, but later moved to 13 Phoenix Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts. 

John William Varley is also listed on the Stanton Hill War Memorial.
