Bernard Arthur Wass died on 13th April 1918, aged 19 years, and was remembered on the PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.

He was born on King Street, Sutton on 12th November 1898, to parents William and Ada Wass. William Wass was a Bricklayer, who married Ada Wall at St John's Church, Mansfield, in December 1893. On the 1901 census the family were living on Jefford's Yard, King Street, Sutton, but by the time of Bernard's death they resided at 54 Alfred Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
