William Wildsmith died on Sunday 30 September 1917, and was remembered on the TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
He was born c1894 to parents Charles & Mary Ann Wildsmith. Charles Wildsmith was a Bricklayers Labourer who married Mary Ann Renshaw at St Mary's Church, Sutton in July 1875. They were both natives of Sutton-in-Ashfield. After William's death, Mrs. Mary Ann Wildsmith was living at 31 Park Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
William was the brother of Wilfrid Wildsmith and of Gershom Wildsmith, who is listed amongst the missing names not included on the War Memorial.
