Corporal 60382
"Z" 50th Trench Mortar Bty., Royal Garrison Artillery
Notts Free Press, 28th April 1916
Sidney Andrew Wingrove died on Sunday 16 April 1916, Age 20, and was buried in LA LAITERIE MILITARY CEMETERY, Heuvelland, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
He was born in 1896 in Sutton-in-Ashfield (or possibly Pinxton, Derbys), and was baptised at St Paul, Daybrook on 8th March 1896 to parents Albert Edward and Elizabeth Ann Wingrove.
Albert Edward Wingrove was a native of Kentish Town, Middlesex and was employed as a Railway Signalman. His wife, Elizabeth Ann (formerly Jeffery), was originally from Redhill, Nottingham, which would explain the use of St Paul's church at Daybrook for the baptisms of at least two of her children. At the time of Sidney's death they were living at 58 Outram Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
