Austin Cudworth died on 20th July 1944, aged 36 years, and was buried in the RYES WAR CEMETERY, BAZENVILLE, Calvados, France.

HMS Isis
HMS Isis was a Class 1 Destroyer, which hit a mine on the 20th July, off the coast of Normandy, France. A total of 155 men were lost, with only 20 survivors. A memorial to HMS Isis is located in Portsmouth Cathedral, and details of it, can be read here. Austin Cudworth's name is inscribed on the left hand door of the memorial.
Austin Cudworth was the son of George and Alice Cudworth, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and the husband of Grace Cudworth, also of Sutton-in-Ashfield.
