Roy Whitehead died on 10th November 1943, aged 23 years, and was buried in the KANCHANABURI WAR CEMETERY, Thailand. This cemetery holds the remains of many of the 13,000 prisoners of war who died while constructing the "notorious" Burma-Siam railway.
He was the son of Walter and Mary Ann Whitehead, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and the nephew of Edith Waterfield, of Sutton-in-Ashfield.
