The Crown & Woolpack

This property is located on Forest Street, in the area also known as Oates' Hill. It is estimated to have been built around 1760.

During the 1860's it was occupied by John Turner, who was a singer and member of the Old Glee Club.

It was leased to the Mansfield Brewery circa 1880, for £70 per year. The Brewery eventually bought the building in 1893 for £3,352.

On the 1881 census the occupant was George Froggatt, but in Kelly's Directory of the same year the owner is recorded as Job Shelton, who was also listed under the Black Bull.

The property was known as the Woolpack Inn in 1896. It has been rebuilt at some time in the same location, and still exists today.
