
Dog & Duck
Located on Forest Lane, which is now known as Station Road. In 1788 a meeting of the Vestry was held "at the house of John Wass, the Dog & Duck Inn".
In 1871 a local cricket team played against the All England Eleven, "on Clarkes Croft, near the Dog and Duck Inn". In 1876, William Clarke was also described as a "Farmer".
The property was demolished in March/April 2001 to clear the land for shops.
