Sutton Today
Like most towns in the country, Sutton-in-Ashfield continues to change and improve itself. Here are a number of views of Sutton-in-Ashfield as it is today.
Devonshire Square
Where Devonshire Square was once the 'Top Green' or 'Upper Green' it is now home to the Bus Station and a major traffic island. Where the Bus Station runs was once the road known as Goodley's Hollow. The large grey building in the right-hand picture is the library. The white houses in the centre of the left-hand picture stand at the entrance to Priestsic Lane.
View towards Devonshire Square and the Bus Station from Forest Street.
Portland Square
Portland Square was once the 'Lower Green', and Forest Street ran alongside it. The lower right hand view shows the remains of Forest Street going towards Devonshire Square.
Low Street
Here are two views of Low Street, the main outdoor shopping street of Sutton. The left-hand picture is taken from the entrance to Portland Square, while the right-hand picture is taken from further up the street, looking towards the Market place. You can see the same tree in both pictures.
